  1. TD engine power is up over 96 from 190hp/385lbft trq to 195hp/430lbft trq.
  2. Both NA & Trbo dsl have the integrated pow.steering pump/reservoir.
  3. One piece exhaust heat shield for less rattling.
  4. Higher speed fueling ability.
  5. NA and turbo dsl now share accessory drives.
  6. Coolant surge tank redesigned
  7. Low coolant sensor.
  8. Heated windshield option
  9. dlx int. mirror w/compas & ext. temp display
  10. heavy duty rr bmpr is standard.
  11. new, larger, auxiliary air cond. unit
  12. improved air ducting designed to increase air flow to windows and floor.
  13. air scoop for improved fresh air entry
  14. new hvac blower
  15. better flow-through ventilation
  16. new shifter boot for better insulation
  17. and not least is the improved insulation in the driveline tunnel, firewall and headliner for an interior sound reduction of 7 db @ 55mph.
The 97 is a vastly improved vehicle.
