Oil Leaks - Tracking Them Down:

Possible causes of oil leaks:

  • Oil pressure sending unit

  • Oil Pressure sensor

  • Faulty engine oil cover cap

  • Valve cover gaskets (common source of leaks on 5.7L Diesel engines)

  • Head gasket

  • Oil filter attachment point

  • Oil pan gasket

  • Oil pan bolt

Also:

Pressure clean the engine after spraying it with Gunk. Then most auto parts stores sell a leak detector kit where you add a fluorescent dye to the oil, run the engine, then examine it with UV light. This is how to detect difficult leaks.
